We Create buildings & Environments that...

We Create buildings & Environments that...

... set new standards: we use our Human Centred Design suite of tools on every education design to ensure that wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. This is our approach for the whole spectrum of education projects which we have recently completed or have currently on site: from our Stirling Nursery schools, through Lisburne SEND, Richmond College and the new facility at the University of Glasgow, the Institute of Health and Wellbeing. We are at the forefront of research in this field of wellbeing and all our disciplines hold this approach at the heart of our designs.

... challenge convention: Our Creative Design team: a 100 strong team of visualisers and coders, is revolutionising the way we use design data to enhance our clients’ projects. From automation of pragmatic tasks to the creation of apps to document the development of projects from concept to completion, this team is leading the way on a global stage.

... have a positive social purpose: our R&D team spearhead our research which is central to our thinking: ranging from sustainability, to materials, to human experience: all disciplines and all grades engage in this activity.

... strike the perfect balance: Designing in a multidisciplinary team is an art form, and Atkins provides a solution which is greater than the sum of the parts.

Our people are helping to design and deliver tomorrow’s world, today.

Our people are helping to design and deliver tomorrow’s world, today.

People are at the heart of our business. Our teams have a broad and deep wealth of expertise in everything from design, engineering and project management to highly specific, sought-after skills such as building information management and engineering for net zero carbon. They’re both disruptors and collaborators. And they get the job done.

At the forefront of innovation, Atkins has shaped engineering and design for generations

Whether it’s the London 2012 Olympics, the Burj al Arab, Dubai metro, the channel tunnel or the ITER experimental fusion reactor, Atkins has worked on some of the most iconic and mould-breaking infrastructure projects.

Our designers, engineers, technologists and project managers have helped clients reshape the world, with new ways of designing and building that make the lived environment work better for everyone.

With our commitment to talent and to nurturing a more diverse workforce, Atkins is a major driver in making the industry more inclusive. This is also a core part of our legacy - and key to our plan to build a better future.

Our vision for engineering a sustainable society.

Our vision for engineering a sustainable society.

As a leader in the design and delivery of the built environment, we have a tremendous opportunity to have a positive impact on society by working in partnership with our clients to make the world more environmentally sustainable for all.

Engineering Net Zero is not just about working to minimise our impact on the planet and the climate it’s about leaving our world in a better state than we found it. Not to maintain the status quo. To Improve it.

To avoid catastrophic climate change we need to act now to achieve Net Zero Carbon. We must all work together, across engineering, manufacturing and industry, across businesses and across borders. Ours is an urgent remit. We must limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. Our future depends on it.

In 2020 we launched ‘Our vision for engineering a sustainable society' which laid out clear Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets and commitments across 12 key areas, as well as our Routemap to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030 across our corporate activities.

These commitments are a call to action for our whole organisation; they will ensure accountability and help us measure our contribution over time.

From single buildings, to campuses, estates and cities, we’re helping to integrate new and existing assets to build Net Zero communities.
