Out to Play – recognising the value of outdoor spaces as a learning environment
Access to a range of outdoor spaces is fundamental to delivering high quality outdoor play experiences within early learning and childcare settings (and in schools). Playing and learning outdoors delivers many benefits for children and the practitioners working with them. Join us to hear from speakers about the importance of adapting and evolving outdoor spaces and developing practice. We will also hear from children, parents and practitioners about their experience of playing, learning and working outdoors every day – including setting up and maintaining outdoor spaces, engaging children, delivering the curriculum and how this benefits children’s outcomes.
Chair: Kate Smith, Scottish Government
Speakers: Education Scotland; Creative Star and Thrive Outdoors (Inspiring Scotland)
