Thoughtful Design for University Estates

22 May 2024
Lowther Suite

HLM Architects prioritise thoughtful design to enhance educational spaces. Our collaborative approach with universities focuses on strategic plans for campus development. We’ve identified several key themes for maximising opportunities across the learning estate:

  • Culture, Context & Campus
    • Creating a "sticky campus" to attract and retain students.
  • Transformation of Teaching & Learning
    • Addressing evolving learning pedagogies, student cohorts, and academic programs.
  • Estate Rationalism
    • Re-envisioning existing estates to meet changing needs and create efficient facilities.
  • Sustainable Ambitions
    • Understanding the existing portfolio to create effective and sustainable estates.
  • Health & Wellbeing
    • Integrating design for diverse and engaging learning environments.

The presentation will highlight HLM's 'Thoughtful Design Toolkit' and how it ensures project vision and ambition are met.

We will also focus on ‘Estate Rationalism’, highlighting the importance of delivering distinctive, quality facilities that will attract and support the highest calibre of staff and students.
