Efficiency, Effectiveness & Equity across the Learning Estate
Key space typologies like breakout spaces and large-scale flexible learning environments are becoming increasingly commonplace in new-build school design. Commonly an addition to traditional environments, these spaces offer collaborative and innovative teaching and learning opportunities and wider use of the buildings we call schools.
Moving forward and anticipating a need to mitigate the rising cost of construction, the efficiency of both new and existing schools will likely become a key driver. Creating an equitable learning landscape across the estate also needs to be considered to ensure that schools currently in good condition do not fall behind in suitability.
SpaceZero believes that the space planning, furniture, and fit-out of school buildings can play a key role in delivering an efficient and effective estate, particularly when considered in the early stages of a project. This presentation will explore the benefits of an inside-out approach to the briefing of new schools and the optimization of the existing estate.
