Using Real-Time Data to Turn Passive Classes into Discursive Learning Spaces - Magma Maths
Adam Lindberg, Regional Partnership Manager, Scotland, Magma Maths | Calum Taylor, Teacher/Digital Leads of Learning, Dalmarnock Primary School.
This session explores how real-time insight into student thinking can transform classrooms into environments rich in dialogue and engagement. Magma Maths captures and analyses students’ mathematical reasoning, enabling teachers to intervene early, address misconceptions, and adapt teaching in the moment. Drawing on work with Scottish Borders and Glasgow, we’ll show how this approach improves attainment, reduces workload, and builds student confidence. Grounded in research on formative assessment and thinking classrooms, the session demonstrates how data can support more responsive, inclusive, and discussion-driven teaching.
