Constructing Futures & Girls into Construction Programmes
Lindsay McNaughton, Kier and Teachers & Pupils
Constructing Futures was launched in August last year, based on-site at Currie Community High School. The programme was created in response to a request from the school who were seeking a vocational / construction industry specific programme.
The preliminary cohort of 15 pupils from two secondary schools, have now completed the course, maintaining 100% attendance and attainment. Now complete, the next cohort has now been selected in partnership with Edinburgh College and Kier's ‘Girls into Construction’ programme was launched in April.
Kier, alongside staff and pupils from schools in Edinburgh and North Lanarkshire, showcase the inclusive Programmes they are running in collaboration with education and industry partners to inspire, encourage and inform young people, with a focus on females, into the construction industry.
