Designing for Sustainable Heritage Retrofit

This session will focus on "Designing for Sustainable Heritage Architecture," emphasising environmental sustainability for educational estates and an approach to conservation of historic buildings. It will also delve into the estate review process and responsible retrofit practices for creating effective and sustainable estates. 

Drawing on recent projects at universities such as Edinburgh, Sterling, Strathclyde, and Glasgow, the presentation will showcase our comprehensive approach to sustainable heritage architecture, emphasizing environmental sustainability, responsible retrofit, and a conservation-led methodology. It aims to demonstrate the practical application of sustainably designing and retrofitting heritage architecture to create effective and sustainable estates while preserving the historical significance of buildings.
