This session will look at the value of green spaces in cities and on school grounds, providing attendees with an insight into how existing grounds can be transformed to deliver more for pupils, teachers and the surrounding community.
Attendees will learn how climate resilience and pedagogic re-organisation of the grounds can be delivered at the same time, what the key considerations are and how co-design can be successfully employed to meet a wide range of needs and fulfil the estates full social- and environmental potential.
There will also be a presentation about the newly launched Nature Discovery Map Scotland (NDMS) toolkit. It will show how it supports teachers with Learning for Sustainability (LfS), and allows students to assess how nature-rich and climate resilient their outdoor school estate is, empowering them to take greater ownership of how their school grounds should evolve.
