Unleashing the Potential: Innovative Strategies for Educational Spaces

This session will delve into approaches to maximising the potential of existing buildings and sites, all while creating enhanced and sustainable learning environments. Discover how to extend and remodel spaces with a strong emphasis on sustainability, holistic design, and adaptive reuse.

In our first presentation, we'll explore a fascinating project for the City of Edinburgh Council. Despite the challenges of limited outdoor space and the overshadowing presence of the main building, the design seized the opportunity to create a lasting Passivhaus-certified extension pavilion. Using prefabricated CLT structures to create an exceptional new learning environment that showcases innovation and sustainability.

Our second presentation will focus on a grander scale with a significant extension project for a High School for North Lanarkshire Council. This segment will highlight an approach to carbon budgeting, where specific targets are set for various building components. The session will illustrate how a dedicated effort to reduce carbon, including the active reuse of materials, are meticulously identified and communicated to all stakeholders.

Following these captivating presentations, you'll have the chance to dive deeper into these topics during our interactive Q&A session. Don't miss this opportunity to engage with the experts and gain insights into the future of educational space design!
