Do architects understand landscape design?
Helen Taylor, Director of Practice, Scott Brownrigg | Felicity Steers, Director, ERZ Studio
Places of learning must be delightful, sensory and dynamic for children to learn in, play in and socialise in. Well designed, robust places that encourage exploration, action and imagination. This workshop will bring together architects, landscape designers and stakeholders to challenge each other to find new ways to masterplan learning spaces- indoors and outdoors- that invite creativity, wellbeing and connectivity- including with community outside the school gates. The workshop will be led by Scott Brownrigg (architects) and ERZ Studio (landscape design) and will include staff and student voices.
Sustainable Living an Intervention Imperative
Merrick Denton-Thompson, Trustee
The state of childhood and the biological state of the nation are both in crisis. Intervention by everyone is required to reverse these conditions to deliver cultural change, including the health and economic performance of our country. School grounds should be regarded as the ‘National Parks’ of our towns and cities. They form a vital part of the learning infrastructure and yet the potential of these places have yet to be fully recognised. Delivering multi-functional outcomes can transform the lives of young people.
