Alan Garland - Stallan-Brand Architecture

Alan Garland

Director, Stallan-Brand Architecture

Alan Garland is an architect with over 25 years’ experience shaping learning environments that strengthen community identity and support long‑term social value. His work is driven by the belief that architecture should improve lives, foster belonging and create places where people feel connected and confident. Known for a hands‑on, exploratory design approach, Alan works through drawing, testing and refinement to produce schools that are adaptable, sustainable and centred on wellbeing. His portfolio includes transformational projects such as Jedburgh Grammar Campus, the Tain 3–18 Passivhaus Campus and the new Peebles High School, each grounded in low‑energy performance, inclusivity and strong community integration.

Alan combines design clarity with technical depth, ensuring that complex briefs become buildable, high‑performing outcomes. Across his work, he focuses on how architecture can reinforce local identity, broaden opportunity and act as a catalyst for thriving, future‑ready communities.
