Andy Bell is a technology entrepreneur and product leader applying artificial intelligence for social good. He leads a team creating AI-powered tools that reduce administrative burden and improve service delivery across education and social care. His current venture, Trellis, developed through the Scottish Government’s CivTech programme, harnesses large language models to accelerate key education workflows such as Scotland’s Child’s Plan, giving teachers more time to focus on learners’ needs.

With over twenty years’ experience at the intersection of technology, design, and impact, Andy has founded and scaled multiple ventures. Before Trellis, he co-founded SIDE Labs, a no-code tech-for-good agency delivering digital solutions for organisations such as Refugee Action, YMCA, and Citizens Advice Scotland—work recognised with the ScotlandIS Tech for Good Award (2023) and the Holyrood Digital Public Service Award (2024). Earlier in his career, he was Head of Product at Mint Digital, where he helped launch and exit consumer startups including StickyGram.

Andy holds an MSc in Computer Science from University College London and a First-Class BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick. Passionate about knowledge sharing, he has written for Mind the Product, run free webinars for early-stage founders, and spoken at leading events including the Public Sector Innovation Conference.
