Josh McKay
Josh McKay is the Outreach Officer for junior parkrun in Scotland, where he leads national work to strengthen community engagement, build partnerships and create inclusive pathways into physical activity for children and families. Before joining parkrun, Josh spent eight years at NHS Tayside including nearly 5 years as a Dietetic Support Worker. His work in patient support, exercise prescription, health promotion and behaviour change now underpins his commitment to improving children’s wellbeing through accessible, community‑led activity.
Josh’s connection to parkrun began in 2013 and has shaped his life ever since. He has volunteered on more than 500 separate days, completed over 400 parkruns, served as a Run Director and ambassador, and helped establish Dundee’s junior parkrun in 2017. Now co‑Event Director of a thriving junior event, he is driven by a simple mission: to help every child in Scotland experience the confidence, joy and belonging that junior parkrun can offer.
