Lesley Munro is Director of Education and Children’s Services at Scottish Borders Council, where she leads the strategic development of schools and children’s services across the region. With a background in teaching and leadership, she has consistently championed inclusive, values-led approaches that prioritise pupil wellbeing, community engagement, and long-term impact. Lesley has played a key role in transformative initiatives across the Borders, including the Inspire Learning digital programme and major school estate redevelopments. She is currently overseeing the redevelopment of Hawick High School, embedding the school’s core values; Honesty, Equality, Ambition, Responsibility, and Determination, into every stage of the design process. A passionate advocate for collaboration, Lesley brings insight into how local authorities can meaningfully engage with young people, educators, and communities to shape learning environments that are authentic, future-ready, and aligned with local needs.
