My name is Sophie Friel. I work as a Communities and Social Impact Trainee for Morrison Construction under the Graduate Apprentice Scheme. Being a Graduate Apprentice means I have the opportunity to earn while I learn, working within the Communities and Social Impact team 4 days a week and attending university, studying a Business Management degree 1 day a week.

Over my 2 years employment with Morrison Construction, I have gained invaluable experience from my colleagues and managers. This has allowed me to complete my first project, successfully delivering all community benefits at Paisley Grammar School Community Campus in Renfrewshire. I look forward to working on my new projects and facing new challenges. Future projects include Park Mains High School Extension in Renfrewshire, Methven Primary School in Perth and Kinross and Dumfries Academy in Dumfries and Galloway.

I have also successfully completed my first 2 years of university and am now working towards my bachelor’s degree this year.
