Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools: guidelines and guardrails

This session will explore the AI guidance and guardrails for Scottish schools, focusing on why clear frameworks are essential to support safe, ethical and effective use of AI in education. Chaired by Professor Judy Robertson (University of Edinburgh), it will briefly set the context for these guardrails and their importance in a rapidly evolving landscape.

The session will take a discussion-led approach, bringing together perspectives from across education to explore how these considerations play out in practice. It will reflect on how schools are engaging with AI, alongside the experiences of teachers and learners, and the real-world challenges and opportunities shaping responsible use in classrooms.
